Q: Do I have to take my turn?
A:
No. You can pass if you want.

Q: When do dock workers reappear after they have been pushed into the water?
A:
At the beginning of that player's turn before movement UNLESS that player's loading area is already filled up, THEN they must either move their pieces to make room OR be unable to return the piece until it is possible to do so.

Q: What happens to the loading areas not used in a 2 or 3 player game?
A:
Those loading areas are considered water.

Q: In a 3 or 4 player game two players can move their Elephants on my loading area forever blocking me from points AND regenerating workers that have been squished or pushed in the water!  Is that legal?
A:
Legal? Yes!  Mean? Yes!  The downside to this is that the Elephant is the most powerful dock worker and those players will be unable to use it.  Don't forget: you can still score points by pushing their crates in the water and setting up for squishes!  Also, when we brought this to Tom Jolly himself, his reply was "I have trouble believing  two players would agree to commit their 'queens' to blocking a dock while the other players' queens are out wreaking havoc among their crates...I'd challenge any two players that want to try this, and bet I'd kick their butts!"  =)

Q: Boy, that stinks that squished dock workers cannot return to the game...What's up with that?
A: Actually, the rules do state that squished dockhands appear back in the game on the player's next turn.  At the same time though, we only *suggested* in the rules that squished dockhands permanently leave the game in a crowded four player game.

Rules Variants:

Setup:  As an optional setup rule, place your dock workers on the board one at a time BEFORE turning over the randomly placed crates!  This makes for a shorter setup time, but a more challenging game in the end!

Playing:  The Cod Liver Oil Challenge!  When pushing, play as though the entire dock is slippery from cod liver oil all over the place.  This means whenever you push a crate, it keeps moving until it is stopped by something else or falls off the docks.  Boy, does this make for a fast game!  Thanks to our very own Allan Sugarbaker for this one!
